The River Tweed

About East Braes

East Braes is a Victorian house, situated towards the eastern end of Coldstream's main street.

The house has been extensively restored by its current owners, who have extensive knowledge of the area and local history, and has many beautiful features.

One of the most attractive and unusual is the stained glass window above the staircase, which illustrates the Four Seasons with four little angels. Each of these angels is reputed to have the face of one of the children of the owner of the house at the time that the window was created. Victorian Window

Although the house presents quite a small plain facade to the street, it is much more extensive inside than might be expected, and has beautiful gardens leading down a slope to the riverside walks on the River Tweed.

East Braes is recommended by the "Sunday Times" travel section.
